The 500E began production in 1990 on Mercedes-Benz's E class, Mercedes' executive car series. Named specifically for its quite large 5.0L V8 engine (mated to a four speed automatic transmission) that powered the sedan, the 500E was part of the mid size luxury car class and was only available in a four door body style. An interesting fact about these vehicles is that every single 500E took 18 days to complete assembly as each was hand assembled by Porsche and each unit had to go back and forth between the Porsche plant and the Mercedes plant several times before it was fully put together. This created limited production numbers with just under 10,500 units being produced until its discontinuation in 1995.
Wheels on the 500E included two 16" alloy rims, both finished in silver, that had either 15 or 8 spokes. There were also two steel rim options available that both came with painted finish and had either 14 or 18 holes.
