In 2009 the RX series released their newly updated hybrid model the RX450h. A five door compact SUV (designated a Rally SUV whence the RX designation came), the 450h was equipped with a 3.5L V6 engine coupled with electric motors and mated to a six speed continuously variable automatic transmission. The name 450h comes from the engine specs, specifically the displacement of the regular engine and an extra hundred added to account for the electric motor output increase with the h designating that it is a hybrid. Recently the 450h received a refresh (with almost all modifications being superficial) for the 2012 model year and continues to be in production today.

There have been a variety of 18" and 19" rims offered on the 450h that includes only one steel rim with an 18" diameter and painted finish. The alloy wheels included two 18" alloy rims, both with silver finish and either 5 or 7 spokes. The 19" alloy wheels had either 7 or 5 triple spokes and came finished in either chrome or metallic silver.
